This is a post that will explain ideas, actions, and strategies that can be taken to build organic traffic from keywords that you don’t have in your website. This strategy can be applied using any keyword or content that you would like to implement.

I hope you enjoy this post as much as I’ve liked to write it. Feel free to give your feedback by making a comment at bottom of the page.

SEO Keyword Strategy

The keyword used in this exercise is “Machine Learning”.

First: Define the steps of the keyword strategy that will be executed. There are 7 KPIs to analyze before implementing a keyword SEO strategy.

  • Search Volume
  • Competitors
  • Search Intent
  • Conceptualization of the Content
  • Content Creation
  • Publication
  • Promotion of Content

Search Volume

Before starting to build content, it is important to first ask questions to make sure that the target keyword has organic traffic.

  • How much search volume does the keyword “machine learning” have on a monthly basis?

Software that can help calculate the search volume for a specify keyword:

SearchmetricsSEMRUSHAhrefsMOZ

If these tools are not available, Ubersuggest Free Tool is a great resource to identify potential keywords to understand search volume and competition.

keyword strategy machine learning

Search Volume average is 85,655 per month for the keyword “machine learning”.

Based on these results, it can be assumed that it is possible to have 85K users a month if a given website ranks in the first position on Google and if all the users click a given domain after a search. It’s also important to consider the competition of the keyword “Machine Learning”. Now this is where the big game starts. machine learning competition 2019

ahrefs There are 815,000,000 results for machine learning, and according to Ahrefs the keyword machine learning has a difficulty of 81,  which is considered “Super Hard, Keyword Difficulty” to rank Top 10 on Google search results for a given keyword. The measurement is taken from a non-linear scale from 0 to 100 (low difficulty to high difficulty).

Competitors

Why are these pages below in top 8 organic positions on Google Search?

Keyword analyses

Analyze the ranking factors for each competitor. The column “position” corresponds to the same domains in the picture above.

Keyword analyses

  • How many ranking keywords does each competitor have?

Search volume for each page, traffic index, traffic value, average rank and Average CPC

Keyword analyses

The more specific the keyword is the easier it is to gauge the searcher’s intent and the easier it will be to serve up what those searchers are probably looking for. In search marketing, “intent” is the best guess at targeting what the person using the search query really wants.

We need to ask ourselves: What do we want to be? We are after the result that satisfies the searchers so that they don’t bounce back to the search results looking for a better answer. A long-tail strategy is a smart way to start to build SEO Content Strategy.

A great strategy to start with is identifying keywords that are related to machine learning with low search volume and competition as pictured below.

long tail machine learning

When you build a long-tail keyword list, think to include one column to label your keywords to clarify what this keyword means.  Example column 1: “Tag”

Conceptualization of the Content

What is the content that we want to create and what is the search intent behind this content?

This question is important to build and produce the content strategy. Search queries can be segmented into three categories: DO, KNOW, and GO. To an extent, these classifications determine the type of results that Google delivers to its users. For “machine learning,” I  will use 2 categories: DO and KNOW.

USER INTENT

Now with a structure for data, ideas, and media format, this can used to build new content based on competitors from the keyword “machine learning”. It’s time to execute.

Content Creation

Now its time to choose one way to build content for the keyword machine learning, broad and long tail. Lets separate this idea using the user intent:

Know: Users are looking to know more about machine learning. They are asking questions about this term, they want to know the history and how to learn about it. This user intent could be a great source of traffic and can also be targeted to create brand awareness for your website or company.

Have you heard about the term “Evergreen Content“?

every green content

Google structure data and light content  can be implemented to reach followers that have questions related to the business or subject that you are talking about. Implementing a Evergreen Content Technique is used for the topics with consistent interest and search volume over time.

Example: How to fry an egg?

For this exercise we will use “how to become a machine learning engineer,” what is regularization in machine learning” and “what is the difference between ai and machine learning.

Publication

Finally, it’s time to push the content out into the web. Before the publication, coordinate with PR or marketing team so that this piece of content can be shared on all the digital channels and on pages with high traffic on your website.

Promote your new Post and Content

This step is important and should come immediately after publishing new content related to the targeted keyword.

  • Share this content through your business’s social accounts – Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, Quora and internal pages that have more users visiting the website.
  • It’s important to use social buttons or widgets to promote independent sharing  and make sure that the usability for that action is easy.

Back-link Strategy this is vital to make the new piece of content rank higher in the organic position. The table below is about  competitors  and it is easy to see how “Referring Domains to Domains”  is important.

Keyword analyses

Finally, after the content is live and receiving traffic, apply a back-link strategy. To increase the number of back-links for this new piece of content:

  1. Fix Broken Back links
  2. Analyze Competitor Content Back-links:  Find “Machine Learning” anchor text back-links with higher page authority from competitors, reach the websites and ask them to share your article or new post about machine learning.
  3. Empty Anchor Back-link: Sometimes you will see back-links without a text, this is the opportunity to request the given website to include the anchor text “machine learning” and build more back-links to your own.

Final Thoughts

Building the best content is not necessarily the best answer to receive organic traffic. With all the topics that have been described in this post, Google Bot needs to able to read a website and crawl all the pages easily. Make sure that all the items below are performing well.

  1. Site Quality
  2. Indexation
  3. Canonization
  4. Robots.txt
  5. Architecture of your site
  6. Internal Linking
  7. Mobile Navigation
  8. Site Speed
  9. Sitemaps
  10. Meta Tags
  11. Social Media Tagging
  12. Images
  13. Content Quality
  14. Structure Data
  15. Back-links

Content ranks well when all of these items are performing well.

With discipline, you can lead your life

Discipline equals Freedom

I always try to be an extremely disciplined person and this has been a very important goal in my life, I will be honest with you it’s not easy, but if you archive this skill you can reach the starts. I believe that discipline it’s something makes you stand on a rail and I also can see as the path that leads you to your great goal.

One of the great components to have discipline is “organization skills”. Organize life, routine, organize what you like to do and what you don’t like to do. I have always had many roles and activities in life and most of the time I fell overwhelmed, So I start to read how to optimize my time and realize that discipline and determination, Is the key to have great and bounce life.

discipline equals freedomWith the organization, you are the passenger in a great transportation seat. You save time and can provide your focus on the things that are necessary. One of the main facts in modern society is the behavior of people that prefer to postpone an event because they need time to do things calmly. All right, it can work. But what if I complete the tone of my tasks before? It may be that this decision brings problems, costs, and concerns. However, we will only know the balance of doing things with greater speed if we evaluate and calculate the cost/benefit ratio of this hypothesis. And usually, when you anticipate, you achieve the result before and gain much more satisfaction.

I always hated wasting time. It is true that time is money, just as it is true that time is the pleasure, it is satisfaction, it is objectivity. Who loses time loses all this. The best moments of my professional life have always coincided with times when we are traveling at high speed, faster than competitors. Doing it quicker does not cause stress as long as you structure yourself for it, you need to be prepared, using your focus in what matters. It is also important not to confuse high speed with haste.

Have disciple is not easy at all, discipline presupposes priorities, discarding certain things to focus on what is really important. In this process, it is necessary to separate what is the priority of what is urgent. Priorities need to be attacked with your heart. However, you should always try to open your arm and take with you that which is not a priority, everything that has its urgency but does not require so much attention.

Organizing your agenda, you definitively lives better.

Another indispensable thing for discipline is the management of time. Your schedule should be annual, always. I start working on the calendar next year long before the year is over. I set the big events and I’m going to adjust what is appearing, including leisure, travel. Planning time is time-saving. It is much simpler to manage time when it is handled in an organized way, that one of the big lessons that I learned living in the U.S.A.

Another important skill that you need to have is the humility to recognize that you do not put a dozen eggs in a six-place box. That is, it is no use to think that it is possible to fit dozens of appointments on the agenda because time is finite. This will generate stress and loss of focus. In this sense, objectivity is key to dealing well with time.

The last point in relation to the discipline is the act of delegating and create clear communication, it’s important to give power to the people that you are related and “trust” is the key that people need to do what you expect. Discipline involves a series of requirements that if they are well and if you can reach all those mentioned in this post, you will certainly have a lighter life and enjoy the good moments without stress.

Brazil Carnival Facts

Although the practice of carnivals originated from Europe, African influence is evident in the Brazil carnivals that we see today. Carnival history dictates that this began when Brazil became a colony of Portugal. Due to the African slave trade, the carnivals adapted the tribal practices which included parading around the village which was actually done to ward off all the bad spirits in the area. People began to use costumes and tribal masks during the celebrations. Feathers were also used in many of the African costumes and this symbolized rebirth and the rise of the spirits which are also important components of the modern day Brazilian carnival.

According to Carnival history, back in the 1600s slave trading was practiced in South America. The slaves that came to Brazil brought with them their culture and love for music. As time went by, slaves who originated from Angola and West Africa started to mingle with the locals of Brazil and shared with them their love for Samba. Since then Samba has become an integral part of the Brazilian Carnival.

Even before the expansion, Austin is already the largest core of the company outside the Silicon Valley, with more than 6,000 employees. The increase in the price of rentals in Silicon Valley is just one of the motivations for technology companies like Apple and Google to invest in offices in other regions of the country. Smaller offices of the iPhone creator will be developed over the next three years in Seattle, San Diego, and Culver City, California. Each of them should employ about one thousand employees

Creativity for kids

Let’s try to discover and encourage the creative of our kids, not by forcing them to fit into what we want for them. Instead it is best to adapt the environment to what they want, offering the resources that are possible to make them more and more creative.

Creativity Process

Creativity is an inherent quality of the human being, although in some it is more developed, and in others less, but we are all born with the ability to
create, invent, modify the environment and create things, all as a resource that allows us both to preserve our lives, and to make them as easy as possible during our journey in this world.

It is well known that this characteristic can be stimulated in the children from very early on, by the parents, by the family and also by the school. Well, even though many get in many ways to stimulate their children, the most common is that most neglect this and collaborate, even unintentionally, to have atrophied the ability of these children to produce and modify the environment and things .

Being creative is not just about being able to create something or invent things. A person can be creative in the domain of other actions, such as getting out of difficult situations, having good oratory, being persuasive, daring and fearless, in the end, have developed the best tools to evolve.

Let us try not to prune the creative sense of our children with discouraging words and deeds.

Facts about Brazil and USA

I’m living in United States for almost 3 years and I decided to wrote about the differences between Brazil and USA. This is my personal statement from a guy that grew up in São Paulo, big city during 30 years and now is living for 3 years in San Francisco Bay Area.

facts about Brazil and USA

Brazil Facts

1 – The Americans are much friendlier than the “Paulistano”, (Paulistano is the person that born in São Paulo), most of my friends told me that this american friendly way just happens in California, I have my doubts. Here they compliment my T-shirt, tennis, pull conversation in the supermarket. The other day I was buying cereal and a guy asked me which brand I bought because he wanted to be skinny like me. Lol

2 – No one walks in the USA. Just me. I love to walk, and here in the USA everything is designed for you to have a car, even though the sidewalks are much better than those in Brazil and maybe is because nobody uses them. When I’m walking I realize that people look at me probably think that something is wrong. “Why is this guy walking?”

3 – Bureaucracy is here! For everything you need to fill out a form, assign papers, finger prints and so on , I’m still adapting, in Brazil we have much more verbal agreements which usually do not work.

4 – Parks are wonderful and the incentive to the sport are visible in USA. It is beautiful to see the amount of blocks and parks scattered around the cities, the parks have maintenance and it seems that everything is brand new, but it is not. The population takes care of and the money destined for this is used FOR IT, much different than in Brazil that usually the money goes into the pocket of some politician.

5 – There is a big community idea here, people take care of the sidewalk, the street, the school district. I once saw a woman tending a flowerbed in the middle of the avenue, she was planting a flower and it was not part of her yard, but her neighborhood.

6 – Here they classify people by color and descent something we do not use in Brazil. If someone is telling a story the person says: There was a guy driving, he was African American, or Asian … In Brazil, it’s better because you do not quote skin color or descent, we don’t need to label races, it’s not necessary.

7 – Soccer is booming here in USA, but the Americans have a lot to learn. The problem with American soccer is that they are not aggressive, they do not play ball with such desire, they respect the opponent too much. For example if you give a dribble in the face of a person, he will not pull his shirt to stop you from making the goal, instead of trying to make a foul or steal the ball he could claps for your play. Are you kidding me?

8 – The courses and Schools are much strong than in Brazil. I did a 3 month digital marketing course and it was without doubt one of the strongest courses I have ever done. 3 months with deadline, homework and homework, and a lot of homework. I tried hard and got a 8. It was worth it.

Paulista Avenue – São Paulo Post Card

9 – Here it does not exist, “Vamo Ve” Which means, let’s see. There is no “vamo” here, or, let’s combine that beer on the weekend that no one ever schedule. If here you say let’s have a coffee any day, the person will schedule the day and time in front of you on the phone and is better you be there.

10 – I use a lot of public transportation here in San Francisco, and the BART our São Paulo is cleaner than the subway from here in California. In comparison of the bus, in San Francisco works much better because the drivers are well trained to serve their passengers and especially there is a huge respect for the elderly, something that unfortunately in Brazil does not happen.

11 – The food here has a lot of sugar and I had to cut the sacred chocolate of the day I was gaining weight, this is terrible for the american population.

12 – The Patriotism of Americans and how proud they are of their flag it’s beautiful to see, in Brazil we have this spirit only in sports, usually at the World Cup.

The beautiful American Flag is everywhere and I love it!

13 – The American does not usually eat his meals with a knife. Usually they only use the fork and I think this trend exists because they do not eat rice and beans every day. We in Brazil, we need the knife to not push the rice with the toe. LOL

14 – Bring food to work is not a poor thing. Here in the U.S. people who bring food to work are praised as they are saving money. In a company that I worked even the CEO of the place I brought food from home. In Brazil people does that too but they are classified like poor and we make fun of it.

15 – Social Networks in Brazil are much larger. I realized that the Brazilian likes social networks more than the American. I have the impression that in Brazil most of the population is on Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp. Here, it seems to me that social networks are more scattered and the American uses SMS much more. WhatsApp is not as popular here as it is in Brazil.

16 – Brushing teeth after lunch here in the U.S. is not common. The other day I was in the bathroom brushing my teeth and entered a guy who was watching my oral hygiene, when I finished he told me … “That’s cool dude, I need to start doing the same, I think I’ll bring my brush teeth tomorrow “. I was somewhat perplexed by what he was saying, I laughed and agreed.

dolores park in San Francisco
Dolores Park in SF

17 – Renting a home or a room to live in California is more difficult than getting a job. When I moved to the USA it was not easy. Usually the person who is renting an interview with you and asks you for a series of documents, including banking history. In Brazil this process is a little bit easier and the reason why is because you have much more apartments, houses and choices.

18 – Unfortunately it is clear that people here in USA have more access to the world of drugs that usually kill people’s lives, when I compare at top of my head about the number of people who live here in Bay Area, 4 Millions against 13 million SP, unfortunately it is sad to see so many dependents. I’ve seen totally drugged teenagers riding a bus at 2 pm and applying needle on his arm on the train platform.

19 – World Cup in USA here is really calm. The United States was not participating of the last edition 2018, but it was still very monotonous. In the next World Cup, if you have the chance do go to Brazil you should do it.

20 – The holiday invitations here is a serious thing. Christmas cards, birthdays are all very beautiful and it’s a big business for stationers and supermarkets. In the place I work the same thing happens, if an employee goes to another company he gets a thank you card, if someone in the family dies or if that person has become a parent or parent he will also win a card as a compliment. In Brazil we don’t have this behavior, which is sad.

21 – Flexibility and Work From Home is really good. No one will judge you if you decide to work from home. In Brazil the culture to work from home is really far to be true.

22 – There is an interesting cultural difference between saying “NO”. We Brazilians have two NO, meanings. “I can not do this, I can not attend this commitment.” Usually the Brazilians circle around and say, “I’ll try to go,” “I’m going to make an effort to make” and when a Brazilian says that to you this person probably will not appear show up. When I make an invitation to a party that is going to happen here in USA, I invite some people from Brazil through Facebook, in the invitation they reply saying that they will attend the event, then, I get the message and automatically and reach the person, “Are you really coming?” and the answer is: I’m sorry I can’t make but I wish be there with you. The Brazilians will never say something that can hurt the other person, even if we do not like it.

23 – The TV here in USA does not dictate American schedules. I realized that we grew up according to the TV schedule, specifically Rede Globo, the largest TV channel in Brazil, dinner during or after the “Jornal Nacional”, soccer on Wednesdays at night. Here the television audience is more divided and I did not realize that people are guided by the television screen. This is a detail of interesting behavior that I could only perceive living here in USA.

24 – The world is a gambler in USA. When the sports season starts in September with American football and ends only in April of the following year with Basketball. Americans bet enough on results, points, or the player who is going to make certain baskets or touchdowns. There are several gambling games, apps and even TV shows. Much more than in Brazil.
